Capitals Acquire Tyler Kopff from Buffalo for Zac Funk

The Washington Capitals have acquired 23-year-old forward Tyler Kopff from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for forward Zac Funk, as announced by GM Chris Patrick on July 13, 2026. Kopff, a 6'4", 220-pound forward, recorded five points in 30 AHL games with Rochester and six points in 10 ECHL games with Jacksonville during the 2025-26 season, and had previously signed a two-year entry-level contract with Buffalo on March 25, 2025. Funk, 22, had tallied six points in 25 career AHL games with the Hershey Bears and 28 points in 34 ECHL games with the South Carolina Stingrays before the trade.
