Carlos Alcaraz withdraws from Cincinnati Open 2026 in bid to return to full fitness for US Open title defence
World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz has withdrawn from the Cincinnati Open 2026, as announced by tournament organisers on Tuesday, 4 August. The 23-year-old Spaniard has not competed since April's Barcelona Open due to a wrist injury, which caused him to miss both Roland-Garros and Wimbledon. His target is to be fully fit for the US Open at the end of August, where he is the defending champion, though the withdrawal means he will forfeit the 1,000 ranking points earned from winning Cincinnati last year.
