Carlson rights traded to Hurricanes by Ducks
The Anaheim Ducks traded the rights of 36-year-old defenseman John Carlson to the Carolina Hurricanes, the 2025 Stanley Cup champions, in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick (Noah Kosick) and defensive prospect Kyle Masters. Carlson, who recorded 60 points in 71 games this season split between the Ducks and Capitals, is in the final year of an eight-year, $64 million contract he signed with Washington in 2018. Carolina now holds exclusive negotiating rights with Carlson until he can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
