Celebrini happy to have new 5-year contract help Sharks improve roster

San Jose Sharks center Macklin Celebrini, 20, signed a five-year, $94 million contract on July 29, averaging $18.8 million per year — which was the highest AAV in NHL history at the time of signing. Celebrini chose to sign for less than the maximum salary to give the Sharks greater roster-building flexibility, with the deal set to begin in the 2027-28 season. In his second NHL season, Celebrini finished fourth in league scoring with 115 points (45 goals, 70 assists) in 80 games.
