Champions Cup final will have independent TV director in charge
An independent broadcast director will be appointed for the Champions Cup final in Bilbao following controversy over missing camera angles during Bath's 38-26 semi-final defeat against Bordeaux-Bègles. Bath's head of rugby Johann van Graan claimed that three high tackles on No 8 Alfie Barbeary went unpunished because the French host broadcaster failed to supply the referee and TMO with all necessary angles. The incident highlighted a gap in EPCR regulations, which unlike the URC and Six Nations do not currently mandate an independent operator to work alongside the TMO.
