Change of solicitors in rugby injury litigation gives court "comfort"

A UK judge has allowed approximately 1,000 rugby head injury claims to proceed despite breaches of court orders, citing reassurance from the claimants switching legal representation from Rylands Garth to class action specialists KP Law, assisted by Leigh Day. Senior Master Cook expressed concern that Rylands Garth principal Richard Boardman, running a relatively new one-solicitor firm, could not reliably comply with future court orders. The claimants, spanning both rugby union and rugby league, allege serious brain damage including concussions and sub-concussive injuries caused by collision forces during matches and training, arguing governing bodies failed to protect them.
