Chelsea open talks to sign Brighton striker Welbeck

Chelsea have opened talks to sign Brighton & Hove Albion striker Danny Welbeck, aged 35. The veteran forward is reported to be keen on joining Chelsea and working under new manager Xabi Alonso at Stamford Bridge. Welbeck, who has been at Brighton, would bring experienced Premier League attacking depth to Alonso's squad.
