Cheltenham Festival-winning trainer has licence suspended until further notice

Irish trainer Pat Kelly, a dual Cheltenham Festival winner with Presenting Percy and Mall Dini, has had his training licence suspended indefinitely by the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) after failing to engage with a referrals committee. A January stable inspection revealed multiple rule breaches, including unidentified horses, 17 missing passports, and an incomplete medicines register, resulting in €2,400 in fines. Kelly did not attend the June 30 hearing and failed to respond to repeated correspondence from the IHRB, leading to the licence suspension taking effect seven days after the initial hearing.
