China Open: Coco Gauff condemns racist abuse on social media after incident during Sun Xinran match

Coco Gauff has spoken out about racist abuse she received on social media following an incident during her win over 16-year-old Sun Xinran at the China Open. The incident occurred when Gauff raised her hand to halt play at 4-5 in the first set due to a flickering light on the court, just as her Chinese opponent believed she had hit a winner. Gauff went on to win the next three points to level at 5-5 and ultimately took the set, but faced a wave of online racial abuse in the aftermath.
