China Open: Qinwen Zheng stuns Mirra Andreeva to make history as first Chinese winner of WTA event in Beijing

Qinwen Zheng made history on Sunday by becoming the first Chinese player to win the WTA China Open in Beijing, defeating Mirra Andreeva 7-5 6-4 in the final. The Olympic champion entered the tournament as a wild card while returning from a nearly six-month absence due to an elbow injury on her dominant right arm. Andreeva, the French Open champion, had taken a 5-4 lead in the second set before Zheng ultimately secured the victory with powerful forehand play.
