China Open: Sonay Kartal wins on return, Arthur Fery beaten in Tokyo

Britain's Sonay Kartal won her first WTA Tour match on her return from a six-month absence caused by a lower back injury sustained at Indian Wells in March. The 24-year-old defeated Andrea Lazaro Garcia at the China Open in Beijing, having only returned to tennis on 22 September at the Billie Jean King Cup. Meanwhile, British player Arthur Fery was beaten in Tokyo.
