Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova and shaping each other’s tennis careers — and lives

Tennis legends Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova are the subjects of a new documentary titled 'Chris & Martina,' releasing Friday, which chronicles their historic rivalry and deep friendship. The film originally aimed to document their recoveries from simultaneous cancer battles — Evert's ovarian cancer diagnosed in January 2022 and Navratilova's throat and breast cancers diagnosed 11 months later — but took a more serious turn when Evert's ovarian cancer returned in winter 2023 and spread to her abdomen. The 71-year-old Evert underwent additional rounds of chemotherapy, adding a more profound and unscripted dimension to the documentary.
