Christophe Soumillon Has Royal Ascot Ban Reduced To Five Days On Appeal

Belgian jockey Christophe Soumillon successfully appealed his eight-day suspension from Royal Ascot, having it reduced to five days by an independent disciplinary panel chaired by Clement Goldstone KC, which also included jockey Aidan Coleman and Grace Cheng. The ban stemmed from his ride on Puerto Rico, an Aidan O'Brien-trained runner, in the Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes. The panel convened last week and returned for final submissions and deliberations on Thursday morning before reaching its decision.
