Christophe Soumillon loses Royal Ascot appeal but has sentence cut
Jockey Christophe Soumillon lost his appeal against a ruling by the BHA's independent judicial panel following an incident in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. The panel found that Soumillon had broken the rules of racing but could not be satisfied that the breach was deliberate in order to help Gstaad. While the appeal against the finding was unsuccessful, Soumillon did have his original sentence reduced as a result of the proceedings.
