Clare Elms, 62, runs sub-5min for 1500m

British masters runner Clare Elms, aged 62 years and five months, set a new world W60 1500m record of 4:56.77 at the Hercules Wimbledon 1500m PB meeting on May 27, becoming the oldest woman to run sub-five minutes for the distance. She improved her own previous world record of 4:56.85, which she had set earlier in 2025. Elms completed the run despite challenging conditions including a strong easterly wind with gusts over 20mph.
