Claressa Shields Returns to Middleweight Throne with TKO of Kaye Scott

Claressa Shields (19-0, 4 KOs) reclaimed the WBC and WBA middleweight titles with a technical knockout victory over Australian champion Kaye Scott (5-2-1) on Saturday night at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, in front of a sold-out crowd of more than 16,000 fans. Shields dropped 20 pounds to compete at the 160-pound middleweight limit, a weight class she had not fought at in three years, and overcame a camp injury to secure the win. After a competitive seven rounds in which Scott proved stronger than expected, Shields broke her opponent down with body shots before finishing with a left hook.
