Coco Gauff plays anti-grass tennis at Wimbledon to nullify Jessica Pegula for semifinal debut
Coco Gauff defeated fellow American Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 on Centre Court on Tuesday to reach her first Wimbledon semifinal. The 22-year-old two-time Grand Slam champion, who had not won a grass-court match in two years, neutralized Pegula's preference for fast grass surfaces by employing a slower, loopier style of play. Gauff also excelled at the net, successfully converting three of five serve-and-volley attempts against the 32-year-old Pegula.
