Coco Gauff returns to U.S. Open, where she made the tennis vows that are propelling her forward

Coco Gauff, the 22-year-old two-time Grand Slam champion, returns to the 2026 U.S. Open having undergone a significant transformation since her 2023 title, rebuilding her serve and forehand in the public eye during last year's tournament. This summer she has dominated opponents, including defeating doubles partner Jessica Pegula at both the Wimbledon quarterfinals and the Cincinnati Open final, winning four of their last five meetings. Gauff opens her 2026 U.S. Open campaign on Tuesday night against Turkey's Zeynep Sönmez at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
