Committee adopts 2-semester playing season for DI men’s soccer

The Division I Men's Soccer Oversight Committee has adopted legislation transitioning the sport to a two-semester playing season, effective August 1, 2027, subject to review by the Division I Cabinet on June 23-24. Under the new structure, teams can play up to 18 contests in a fall segment (late August through the Saturday before Thanksgiving) and up to 10 contests in a spring segment beginning mid-February, maintaining the current maximum of 25 total contests. The Division I Men's Soccer Championship will also be moved to the spring, with the transfer notification window adjusted to one 15-consecutive-day period in spring starting with the 2027-28 academic year.
