Concussion in rugby: Ex-players back first female-centred study

Former international rugby players, including Wales internationals Elinor Snowsill, Caryl James, and Alecs Donovan, have backed a new female-centred study into concussion in rugby, described as ground-breaking research. The study addresses a significant gap, as current rugby concussion guidelines are largely based on the men's game, despite evidence that women are more susceptible to concussion and experience longer recovery times. Symptoms also differ by sex, with women more commonly reporting prolonged headaches and mental fatigue, compared to amnesia more typically seen in male players.
