Concussion in rugby: Ex-players back first female-centred study

Cardiff University is conducting a pioneering study focused on concussion in women's rugby, backed by former international players including Elinor Snowsill, Caryl James, and Alecs Donovan, all of whom represented Wales. Research has shown that repeated head impacts affect women differently than men, with female athletes being more susceptible to concussion and experiencing longer recovery times, as well as different symptoms. The study aims to address the gap in concussion guidelines, which have historically been based predominantly on the men's game.
