Cooper Flagg edges Kon Knueppel in close NBA Rookie of the Year race

Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft playing for the Dallas Mavericks, was named the NBA Rookie of the Year on Monday, narrowly edging out former Duke teammate and roommate Kon Knueppel. Flagg averaged 21 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.9 blocks this season, becoming the first rookie since Michael Jordan to lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. He is the third Maverick to win the award, joining Jason Kidd (1995) and Luka Dončić (2019).
