Cycling superstar Pogacar has surgery after Vuelta crash
Tadej Pogacar, the five-time Tour de France winner, underwent successful surgery on his fractured left clavicle on Monday after crashing during the eighth stage of the Vuelta a España on Saturday, approximately 30 kilometres from the finish line in Xeraco. The 27-year-old Slovenian had been leading the race by 3 minutes and 50 seconds at the time of the crash, ending his bid to complete a Grand Tour clean sweep. Surgery was initially delayed due to concussion, and Pogacar is now expected to spend several days in hospital before returning home to recover, with his participation in the late-September World Championships in Canada considered unlikely.
