Daniil Medvedev defaulted for hitting spectator in the face with ball as Novak Djokovic reaches China Open final

Daniil Medvedev was defaulted from the China Open semi-final in Beijing after accidentally striking a spectator around the left eye with a ball while trailing 7-5 5-3 against Novak Djokovic. As a result of the default, Medvedev will forfeit all ranking points and prize money from the tournament, though he has apologised and described the incident as a '100 per cent accident.' Djokovic, who saved 16 of 18 break points during the match, advances to the final with a perfect 33-0 record in Beijing, moving one win away from a first title of 2026.
