David Benavidez Says He Can Still Make 175 For Canelo Fight
David Benavidez has publicly disputed Canelo Alvarez's claim that he can no longer make the 175-pound light heavyweight limit, insisting at a press conference on May 6, 2026 that he is capable of cutting back down to that weight for a potential fight. Canelo had recently argued that Benavidez has grown too big to comfortably return to 175 pounds after moving up through the divisions. Benavidez, who previously campaigned at super middleweight (168 lbs) before winning a world title at light heavyweight and then unifying cruiserweight belts by defeating Ramirez, stated he is '100% ready' to make the fight happen at that weight.
