Davronova and Fahmi among inaugural Asian U23 champions

The inaugural Asian U23 Athletics Championships took place in Ordos on 12 July 2026, with Malaysian sprinter Muhammad Azeem Fahmi winning the men's 100m gold in a time of 10.17 (-0.7m/s), edging Iraq's Falah Al-Khazaali who set a national record of 10.21 for silver. Two-time world U20 triple jump champion Sharifa Davronova was also among the inaugural champions at the event. Fahmi, a bronze medallist at the 2023 Asian Games, previously helped Auburn University win sprint relay titles at the NCAA Championships in both 2024 and 2025.
