Defending champion Michael Kim holds two-shot lead over Matt Fitzpatrick, host of others after Round 1 of FedEx Open de France

Defending champion Michael Kim opened the FedEx Open de France with a bogey-free, 8-under 63 at Le Golf National in Guyancourt, Paris, taking a two-shot lead after Round 1. Kim, who last year became the first American to win the tournament in 53 years, carded eight birdies on a new course following renovations to the previous venue. Seven players, including Matt Fitzpatrick, Sam Bairstow, Jason Scrivener, Kristoffer Reitan, Thriston Lawrence, Matteo Manassero, and Gregorio De Leo, sit tied at 65 in a group two shots back.
