
DeVaux makes history with Kentucky Derby victory
Cherie DeVaux became the first female trainer to win the Kentucky Derby on May 3, 2026, as her horse Golden Tempo surged from last place to win by a neck at Churchill Downs. Jockey Joe Ortiz rode the 23-1 outsider past 4-1 favourite Renegade, ridden by his brother Irad Ortiz Jr., in the 152nd edition of the race. Ocelli finished third behind the dramatic front two.
