Dodgers give life to injury-riddled starting corps, acquire lefty Lauer
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired left-handed pitcher Eric Lauer from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations ahead of their Sunday series finale against the Angels. Lauer, 30, was designated for assignment by Toronto last Monday after posting a 1-5 record with a 6.69 ERA and surrendering an AL-leading 11 home runs in eight appearances this season. The move addresses a rotation depth crisis caused by injuries to starters Tyler Glasnow (lower back spasms) and Blake Snell (loose bodies in left elbow), leaving the Dodgers with only five active starting pitchers.
