Dodgers star Yoshinobu Yamamoto loses perfect game on Mookie Betts' error in 8th inning, then loses no-hitter in 9th
Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto came within one inning of a perfect game against the Chicago White Sox on June 13, 2026, before shortstop Mookie Betts committed an error on a ground ball from Chase Meidroth in the eighth inning. The error also snapped Yamamoto's streak of 45 consecutive batters retired, which tied Mark Buehrle for the second-longest such streak in MLB history behind Yusmeiro Petit's 46 in 2014. Yamamoto subsequently lost the no-hitter in the ninth inning, leaving Sandy Koufax (1965) as the only Dodger ever to throw a perfect game.
