Don Garber Says MLS Should Be Viewed as ‘Big 5’ U.S. League

Outgoing MLS Commissioner Don Garber, speaking at the Front Office Sports Tuned In summit, argued that Major League Soccer should be considered among the 'Big Five' U.S. professional sports leagues alongside the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL. Garber acknowledged that MLS media rights revenue and audience figures are 'not yet comparable' to those of the traditional Big Four leagues, but maintained he 'forever thinks' MLS belongs in that top tier. He also suggested that with NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman, the group could even be called the 'Big Six.'
