At the Weltklasse Diamond League meeting in Zurich on August 27, 2026, Alison dos Santos broke the world record in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 45.80, while Masai Russell shattered the women's 100m hurdles world record with a time of 12.09 less than 40 minutes later. The event, the final regular-season Wanda Diamond League meeting of the year, also saw Diamond League records, meeting records, world leads, and national records broken across multiple events. Both performances came just one week before the Diamond League Final in Brussels and ahead of the World Athletics Ultimate Championship.
