DuPont, projected No. 1 pick in 2027 NHL Draft, gearing up for NCAA hockey

Seventeen-year-old defenseman Landon DuPont, projected as the No. 1 pick in the 2027 NHL Draft, is currently representing Canada at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup under-18 tournament in Edmonton, where Canada opened with a 7-3 victory over Switzerland on Monday. DuPont, who spent two years with Everett of the WHL and won a championship before reaching the Memorial Cup in May, will join the University of Michigan's hockey program after the tournament. Despite not recording a point in the win, DuPont impressed Canada coach Ryan Oulahen with both his on-ice composure and his character off the ice.
