EBUGs, dress code, other changes the NHL, NHLPA are monitoring as new CBA takes effect

The NHL and NHLPA's new collective bargaining agreement, agreed upon in June 2025, takes effect with training camps opening September 16. Key changes include a shortened 13-day training camp for experienced players (down from 20 days), a limit of two exhibition games for players with 100+ NHL games, and a longer 84-game regular season starting September 29. NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly and NHLPA head Marty Walsh are among the executives monitoring how the new CBA impacts the game, with additional changes including contract length caps for re-signing players.
