ECB review Yorkshire’s £1.75m payment to CEO’s company over Hundred sale
The England and Wales Cricket Board is reviewing a £1.75m payment made by Yorkshire County Cricket Club to SMP73 Ltd, a company in which their CEO Sanjay Patel owns more than 75% of shares. The payment, revealed in Yorkshire's 2025 accounts, was for consultancy work described as 'corporate broker services' related to the sale of Northern Superchargers Limited as part of the Hundred franchise deals. Yorkshire has stated the work was completed before Patel's appointment as CEO, though the ECB is now planning a formal review of the transaction.
