Egypt rest Salah, cite artificial pitch concerns

Mohamed Salah will not travel with Egypt to Juba for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Sudan on September 29, due to concerns over the artificial pitch at Juba Stadium. The Egyptian Football Association clarified that the decision was made before Egypt's opening qualifier against Angola on Friday, which ended in a draw. Despite media speculation suggesting Salah was unhappy after being substituted after an hour against Angola, the EFA stated that an agreement between the technical staff, led by coach Hossam Hassan, and Salah was reached in advance.
