El Paso amateur boxing super flyweight Kayla Gomez to make pro debut

El Paso native Kayla Gomez, a 22-year-old amateur super flyweight boxer, will make her professional debut on Friday, June 19, at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California, in a four-round bout against fellow debutant Shayntain Creer of Georgia at the 115-pound super flyweight limit, broadcast live on DAZN and promoted by Misfits Boxing. Gomez brings an impressive amateur pedigree, including 18 national titles and a historic gold medal at the first-ever Junior Pan American Games female flyweight competition in 2021. She is also noted as a mother making this career transition into professional boxing.
