Emma Raducanu: British No 1 beaten by Frenchwoman Diane Parry in first round of Internationaux de Strasbourg

Emma Raducanu, British No 1, was beaten 6-4 7-6 (7-4) by World No 94 Diane Parry of France in the first round of the Internationaux de Strasbourg on Tuesday, in what was her first clay tournament of 2026. Raducanu was returning to the WTA Tour after a two-month absence due to a post-viral illness, and had accepted a replacement spot in the WTA 500 event. Parry came into the match in strong form, having won the Clarins WTA 125 in Paris the previous Sunday.
