England call up former junior Springbok for Nations Championship as Borthwick seeks impetus
England have called up Bristol Bears centre Benhard Janse van Rensburg, a former South Africa U20 international, to their 42-man training squad ahead of the inaugural Nations Championship this summer. The 29-year-old will become eligible for England on residency grounds on 8 July, having spent five years in the UK since joining London Irish, meaning he could make his full debut against Fiji at Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium the weekend of 12 July. The RFU secured special dispensation from World Rugby to allow his eligibility, overcoming the obstacle of his 21-minute appearance for South Africa's U20 side in 2016.
