England out of RLWC after Tonga beat Samoa

England's Rugby League World Cup campaign ended after Tonga defeated Samoa 20-18 in the final group match, eliminating Brian McDermott's side despite winning two of their three games. England had needed Tonga to win by 46 points to advance to the semi-finals for a seventh successive tournament, but that proved impossible. England's fate was largely sealed by their opening 30-12 defeat to Tonga, and subsequent wins over France (82-0) and Papua New Guinea (32-10) were not enough to overhaul Samoa's points advantage.
