England, UEFA Nations to boycott World Cup, all FIFA competitions

UEFA voted on Thursday to boycott all FIFA competitions, including the men's and women's World Cups, after an emergency meeting of its 55 member associations unanimously rejected FIFA president Gianni Infantino's plan to raise $20 billion by selling a stake in FIFA Forward Enterprises to a private equity group backed by Josh Kushner and JP Morgan. The proposal would have distributed over $80 million to each of FIFA's 211 member associations by 2037 in exchange for private influence over future World Cups, including broadcasting and commercial rights. The boycott would exclude major nations such as England, Germany, France, and world champions Spain from FIFA tournaments, with Infantino having set a September 19 deadline for associations to accept the deal.
