ESPN secures 'handshake agreement' to broadcast 24-team CFP, sources say

The College Football Playoff (CFP) has reached a 'handshake agreement' with ESPN to broadcast an expanded 24-team playoff format, sources told ESPN on Friday. The deal, set to begin with the 2027 season, would effectively double the current postseason field. While formal paperwork remains to be completed, the agreement marks a significant milestone in the expansion of college football's postseason.
