Ethiopia's Addisu Gobena and Kenya's Peres Jepchirchir won the men's and women's races respectively at the Sydney Marathon on August 30, 2026. Gobena, 21, claimed his first World Marathon Major victory after finishing second the previous year, winning by making his decisive move in the final kilometre. Jepchirchir dominated the women's race, finishing in 2:18:31 — nearly four minutes ahead of her nearest rival — adding Sydney to her previous wins in Boston, New York, and London.
