Euro leagues call for FIFA reform amid 'crisis' talks

The association of European soccer leagues, representing competitions including the Premier League, LaLiga, and Serie A, called for FIFA governance reform on Wednesday, describing a recent proposal from president Gianni Infantino as 'dangerous' and raising 'serious questions about FIFA's governance, internal culture and decision-making.' The group opposed any further expansion of the World Cup to 64 teams and threatened to reject the expansion or creation of FIFA competitions until reforms are implemented. Former Portugal and Real Madrid star Luis Figo also added to the pressure on Infantino, publicly calling for his resignation and saying he had 'debased the office.'
