Everton vs. Newcastle LIVE: Carabao Cup updates as Premier League sides fight to face Fleetwood

Everton host Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup on Thursday, with the winner earning a quarterfinal tie against League Two's Fleetwood Town, who sensationally knocked out Arsenal earlier in the week. Everton are chasing their first trophy since their 1995 FA Cup final victory over Manchester United, while Newcastle are looking to replicate their 2024-25 Carabao Cup triumph, when they beat Liverpool 2-1 in the final to end a 70-year domestic trophy drought. The prize of facing Fleetwood — currently struggling at the bottom of League Two — makes the clash particularly significant, as the victor would be just one tie away from a two-legged semifinal.
