Everton's Sherif fined for FA betting rules breach
Everton youngster Martin Sherif, 20, has been fined £5,000 by the Football Association after admitting to causing, permitting, or enabling 61 bets totalling almost £2,000 to be placed on football matches between November 2024 and February 2025. The Netherlands youth international avoided a ban, with the independent regulatory commission citing his prompt admission of guilt, cooperation, and genuine remorse as mitigating factors. Sherif, who has yet to make a first-team appearance for Everton, spent last season on loan at Rotherham and Port Vale, scoring two League One goals for each club across 24 appearances.
