Ex-heavyweight champ Ruiz to face Knyba Sept. 4 in Matchroom debut

Former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. (35-2-1, 22 KOs) will return to the ring after two years away to face Polish fighter Damian Knyba (17-1, 11 KOs) on September 4 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, in Ruiz's Matchroom Boxing debut. Knyba, who stands six-foot-seven, suffered his only loss by knockout against Agit Kabayel in January. Ruiz, who famously upset Anthony Joshua in June 2019, has expressed ambitions to become a two-time heavyweight champion by targeting the belts vacated by Oleksandr Usyk.
