Ex-heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. signs with Matchroom Boxing

Former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. (35-2-1, 22 KOs) has signed a multiyear deal with Matchroom Boxing, announced Wednesday. Ruiz, 36, became the first Mexican American heavyweight champion by stunning Anthony Joshua in June 2019, but has fought only four times since, most recently a majority draw with Jarrell Miller in August 2024. He is set to return to the heavyweight division at a time when three of the four major belts are vacant following Oleksandr Usyk's voluntary relinquishment of his titles.
