F1 British GP: Antonelli overtakes Hamilton to win Silverstone sprint race

Formula 1 championship leader Kimi Antonelli won the 2026 British Grand Prix sprint race at Silverstone, overtaking polesitter Lewis Hamilton at the halfway point to claim his first Saturday victory of the season. Antonelli, driving for Mercedes, finished 2.7 seconds ahead of Hamilton, with McLaren's Lando Norris completing the podium a further seven seconds back. The 17-lap sprint race saw Antonelli and Hamilton dominate, quickly pulling away from the rest of the field by four seconds within the opening three laps.
