F1 needs better balance between business, sport, says world champion Lando Norris
Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris has criticized the sport for being too driven by business decisions, speaking ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, July 27, 2026. The McLaren driver pointed to rule changes made to accommodate Audi's entry into F1 β which took over the Sauber team β as an example of commercial interests overriding sporting ones, with new regulations increasing the electrical element of power units. Norris, who was fastest in final practice at the Hungaroring on Saturday, argued that drivers have very little say in such decisions despite being directly affected by regulations that have reduced car speeds.
